Dang...this picture would be so good but the little stinker was pinching her ears up. This does not show her proper ear set. I was taking these photos last night and in the middle of it, my son Tim burned two of his fingers really bad on the pizza stone. So it got crazy. This little one, Kirlee Sue Who, is so funny. She is always milling around stirring stuff up. Even when everyone else is sleeping she is off on her own little mission. What a girly.
Claire (aka Umpsie Dumpsie) and her baby girl Sea Gal from her current litter. These two look so much a like. The top picture sucks (it's the eye thing). Okay Anna I don't have a good flash like you. Forgive the ugliness. But I posted this picture to show ear set and head type. Umpsie Dumpsie is looking super and we are hoping she goes back into heat and then finds Pony more attractive than she did last time she was in heat. Maybe we can have late fall or winter babies from Pony and Umpsie. Now wouldn't that be something.
Kirlee Sue Who (or is it Monster Rancher?). She has entered the oh so helpful stage. She follows me around to every litter box to assist. Another thing she is doing, is running from me if I reach to pick her up. I don't like this stage. The lovable, sweet little bundle of joy decides she would rather run than to be loved on. Thank goodness it does not last long. She is already coming out of it. But it's still hard. She has also lost that beautiful Koro/Sweet Pea coat she had. I anticipate she will grow it back but another sad day. This little one hisses and spits at the dogs. Terrorizes Winter Hawk, although he secretly loves it. They are best buddies now that Odis has gone to his new home. Kirlee Sue Who is a gift to my mom for helping with the cats while I am at work or a show.
Pixie Pals Sea Gal....mom's girl. She resembles her mom Claire so much. Her nose is not quite as vertical to the chin as mom's is....but a beauty nontheless. I am so excited that her coat is coming back in. We have a show planned for her in August. I recall when this little one was born that she was all blue and I thought her to be a boy because of it. THEN I saw one cream toe and new she was a little blue cream girl. I was so excited. She still has her cream toe that sticks out like a sore thumb. Yah I know, not to funny but I try.
One of the sweetest things in life, to me, is when you get a photo of one of your babies at their new home. This is a picture of Pixie Pals Odysseus "Odis" and his new friend Brassy at their home with Jack and Fay. Odis is a blue boy out of Claire and Leo. He is one of the last of my Leo babies. Leo has gone on to live the life of pampering as a neuter with my friend Kim who is a local gal who at one time bred Devons.
This is Claire as a naked baby. Since this time, she has taken on, as usual, many different names. Right now we call her "Umpsee". Gosh. I know. That isn't even a real word. She has turned into such a superb mother. She has had two litters. All Blue of course. While she takes care of her own very well, she definately knows the difference. This morning, poor little Hawk Eye wonder over and got to close to her dinners. Umpsee had to bop him on the head. She looked so offended that another baby would dare try to steal food from her babies (who are now 14 weeks old mind). Poor Hawk. He just looked at her like, it was worth a try, and wonder off. Hawk never gets offended. He just finds something else to do with himself. Umpsee is the neurotic one of the bunch and we love her for it.
My son took this picture of his little doggy. She has so many names I couldn't even begin to tell you who she is. Currently, I am calling her Sis Wong. Tim said she looks like she is in heaven in this picture. I agree.
Speaking of Heaven I am reminded of dreams for some reason. Perhaps it is because it is a far off dreamy place.
As we all journey down our own Devon road, I would encourage everyone to honor each other enough to allow them to have their own individual dreams and hopes for this breed. We all have our own perfect vision of what we want our Devons to look like. My vision may not be yours and you do not have to agree with mine. But please, at least, have enough respect to allow me my dreams. I take good care of my cats and love them to pieces. All of them. I know my other breeder friends who I hold dear do as well. I think we can all go a lot farther as friends if we just show a little more kindness and understanding for each of our own personal visions, hopes and pursuits. And most important, we are all following our dreams. Frankly, the only perfect Devon to me is the one who is full of health, vigor and happiness. So people, please try to be nice to each other and get along. It is much more fun when everyone is happy. Don't you think.
